1-2-1 Adolescent / Adult Dog
During a dog's teenage phase, which can range from 6 months to 3 years depending on the breed, it can be a challenging time not just for the guardians but for the dogs as well. Based on my experience, dogs at this age or older don't necessarily require training, but rather emotional support. That's why I approach these situations differently than regular 'Training Sessions'.
"Beneath every behaviour there is a feeling. And beneath each feeling is a need. And when we meet that need, rather than focus on the behaviour, we begin to deal with the cause, not the symptom." Ashleigh Warner
Dealing with a dog that is showing signs of aggression or fear can be challenging and often a distressing experience for both human and dog, but there is always a way forward.
Understanding how your dog is perceiving their world, and speaking their language are just some of the fundamental skills needed to move forward. Every dog is unique and their behaviour is influenced by a multitude of factors, including their environment, past experiences, and even their breed. Aggression and fear are often signs of underlying issues that need to be addressed with patience, understanding and professional guidance.

I believe in a compassionate, holistic approach to dog behaviour modification. It is important to understand that there is never a quick fix when we're dealing with emotions. Telling someone with anxiety to just calm down or stop worrying isn't going to make them feel better. Anxiety, isn't something that can be controlled or switched off at will. It's a deeply ingrained response that often requires professional help to manage.
My goal is to give you a better understanding of your dog and help them feel safe and secure in their world, improving their quality of life and strengthening the bond between you and your dog.
